Cobbetts recognises that treating people equally, fairly and with respect is a fundamental part of our values and culture and a key part of our success.
As a firm we are committed to promoting the values of our organisation. Equal opportunities for all are demonstrated in our recruitment and selection processes and learning and development progression is provided right the way through our employee’s careers.
As a firm we believe it is correct to reflect the communities in which our offices are based both with the clients we work with and our employees. For us, diversity simply makes business sense.
We believe that people from a range of backgrounds and experience can enhance our success both for the individuals and the firm. We are committed to opportunity for all and freedom from discrimination on grounds of gender, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, age or gender reassignment.
So what are we doing?
- We are a founding signatory to the Law Society’s Diversity Charter.
- Regularly collating diversity statistics and making decisions on the areas we need to address, as well as being able to benchmarkagainst other law firms and organisations.
- Formulating a Diversity Working Group to enable us to gather views and ideas and to help to promote our commitment across the firm.
- During 2010 we will be working with outside organisations to further promote an understanding of diversity issues.
Running workshops for all employees to up-skill and raise awareness.
- We will continue working with “Divercity” who work with employers to support them in developing and enhancing their approach, focusing on all strands of diversity and inclusive people management.
